Office Hours, and a side door
A daily conversation about media, production and the tools of the trade, where Paul writes the questions and helps run the show. Plus the unofficial side project he runs in the parking lot.
Office Hours Global
Office Hours Global is Alex Lindsay's nonprofit media-education project: a free, live daily question-and-answer show on audio, video, live production and emerging technology, seven days a week, with a different focus each day. Its line is "a global conversation where no one's left out," and it means it: questions come from the community, get voted up, and get answered on air by working professionals.
Paul has been part of it since the show's early days, as a producer and its question and prompt writer: more than 1,420 episodes so far, crafting the questions and prompts that drive each day's conversation, supporting the live production, and helping coordinate the panels, for an audience of more than 5,000 media and event professionals. He treats it the way he treated the Spring in 1990: as a place where people who make things help each other make them better. He will also tell you he has an awkward time keeping up with the pros on the panel, which is exactly why the questions are his job. Much of what he has learned about live production, cameras and audio came from it, and some of it went straight into the network's video work.
afterhours.party, the outlaw side project
In his own words: afterhours.party is "my own scrappy, unofficial 'outlaw' side project, run by someone who has an awkward time keeping up with the media pros over on Office Hours." It is not the after-show home of the Office Hours community, it does not speak for anyone but him, and it is not affiliated with Office Hours in any way. It is one member's side door: a place to keep tinkering with the ideas the show sets loose, at his own pace, with the lights half on. Members sign in; nothing is sold.
Join
Anyone can. officehours.global/join gets you the daily email and a vote on the questions; the show itself is on YouTube every day. If you are there, say hello.
